'Mulder was a Dutchman, Professor of Chemistry at the University of Utrecht. His work was translated into German, and the above English edition is a translation from the German by Dr. H. Bence Jones. It is a conscientious and original contribution to the study of the subject, but many of Mulder's definitions have now been proved to be quite erroneous' (Simon, p.9).
