Krapf was the first European to see Mounts Kilimanjaro and Kenya. An important account by the German missionary who collected information from the Arab traders operating inland from the coast during his travels. From them, Krapf and his companions learnt of great lakes and snow-capped mountains, which Krapf claimed to have seen for himself, much to the ridicule of English explorers who, incorrectly, could not believe the idea of snow on the equator.
