An interesting Hindu astronomical tract translated into English by Hoisington and into Tamil by Ullamuṭaiyan from the original in Sanskrit. The text covers solar and lunar eclipses, both of the Vakya and Modern systems, and includes tables on the planets in their various orbital states.

The work is split into two parts, the first of these is the text in Tamil and the second part in English, both presented as one work and printed in the same year: the English text is presented as "a translation of the foregoing work" in the second titlepage.

First edition; 2 parts in 1 vol., 8vo (21 x 13.5 cm), printed in Tamil and English, astrological tables throughout, a few early ink ownership inscriptions, some scattered stains, leaves evenly age-toned, modern rexine-backed marbled boards, recased with new endpapers inserted.
