Jakob Tuggener worked as an industrial photographer for Maschinenfabrik Oerlikon, a Swiss company that manufactured and sold electrical equipment for power plants, transformer stations, railway vehicles, steam turbines, electrolysers for hydrogen production, and precision tooling.

This company book includes photographs of the machinery in their workshops and the men and women who operate it. Later the same year, Tuggener included some of these photographs in Fabrik Ein Bildepos der Technik, his landmark book on the relationship between man and industry.
