This is the withdrawn first issue of this publication which was rejected by Hughes on account of the poorly printed wrappers and the transposition of two lines in the third stanza. As a result the 100 copies were never numbered or signed on the colophon and a second, corrected issue was produced. This example being signed and dated (1971) on the title page is unusual.

First separate edition, first printing, first issue, 1 of 100 copies, this additionally signed and dated and with a quatrain written out by Hughes; 4to; publisher's marbled paper wrappers, titles and device to both wrappers in black, rivet holes at backstrip as issued. A fine copy.
