An excellent example of the complete portfolio of the Italian text edition of this work on Richard de Bas paper with each coloured etching numbered 57/150 and each signed by Dali in pencil.This collection of erotic love stories first written in the fourteenth century are represented by Dali's highly erotic evocative and ethereal imagery. He captures masterfully the tragic and the comic in his illustration. The images are as follows: 'La Péché Partegé', La fiancé du roi de Garbe, Le diable de Enfer, l'ange Gabriel, L'enfer des Beautés cruelles, Le femme adultère, le tonneau, Blanchefleur, Le jument de compère Pierre, La ressuscitée.
The Richard de Bas paper is of exceptional quality and is produced in a mill dating back to the sixteenth century. This paper was much favoured by Dali and other artists such as Picasso. It was also used for the sole copy of the Constitution of the 5th French Republic of 1958 and the Nobel Prize diplomas have also been written on Richard de Bas paper.
Limited edition, numbered 57 of 150; folio (48 x 35 cm); complete with 10 drypoints printed in colours, each signed by Dali in pencil, each numbered 57/150 on Richard de Bas paper; each protected by transparent sheet, text in Italian, printed title and justification pages, printed cream dust wrapper, slightly marked, all loose and housed in red cloth foldover box with title lettered in silver; a fine copy.
