Meta Photographs is a largely under-the-radar book, similar to some of the work Lee Friedlander and Garry Winogrand made in the mid to late 1970s. In his afterword, Alex Sweetman writes, 'The best introduction to the book is a familiarity with the great works of the critical realist tradition from Atget to Evans through Robert Frank and the present generation; it is as much about them as it is about the environment.'
