The first separate edition of Baudier's survey of the Chinese court, which supposedly he based on the narrative of a Jesuit who had travelled in the country. An earlier translation by Edward Grimston was appended to the "History of the Imperiall estate of the Grand Seigneurs" (London, 1635). This translation is signed "A.G."
Second edition in English; 8vo (8 x 15cm) [10], 102, [4]pp.; small paper flaw to page 86/87 affecting a couple of letters, contemporary calf gilt, sometime rebacked, lettering piece, a very good copy.
