Jennings gives an account of the British expedition against Mohamed Abdille Hassan known as the 'Mad Mullah', as well containing much on local customs, etc. Jennings was Principal Medical Officer with the force, he had previously seen service in the Dongola Expedition of 1897-99, and South Africa.
