A geographical and commmercial view of northern Central Africa:
An uncommon account. M'Queen, the owner of plantations in Grenada in the West Indies, collected extensive information, principally from slaves but also from a study of Arab geographers,which led him correctly to the conclusion that the Niger ended in the great delta of the Bight of Benin. Not being a member of the geographical establishment, little notice was taken of his account at the time and many bizarre theories were put forward before M'Queen's thesis was accepted.
