1 / 7

Amman Zahyan fi Tarikh 'Imarat Abu Dhabi.

The scarcer Arabic edition of this important early work on the first two years of the reign of Sheikh Zayed. It was released to mark the second anniversary of Sheikh Zayed's rule of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and celebrates his reign and the ambitious plans he had for the future. Abu Dhabi would join the UAE three years later.

The work is made up of five chapters, covering the geography, people, history, Al Ain, and the final chapter describing the first five-year plan up to 1972. The illustrations depict the life and government of Sheikh Zayed, showing official engagements and meetings, farming and industry, and city and country life. The genealogy chart shows the family tree of Al-Nahyan family back to the eighteenth century, and the folding map gives a rare depiction of Abu Dhabi as it was in 1968.

First edition; 8vo (23.5 x 17 cm); in Arabic, large folding colour map of Abu Dhabi, folding genealogy chart, profusely illustrated with photographs including frontispiece of Sheikh Zayed, a few pages frayed frayed and frontispiece a little loose; publisher's original decorative wrappers, a little wear to extremities with a small split to upper joint, a very good copy; 158 pp.
