Freshfield / April 1925', portrait frontispiece, numerous b/w. plates, route map of Mont Blanc, with a loosely inserted 4pp. manuscript letter, signed and dated from the author to Mrs. Dorothy Hutchinson, 47 lines, the author's printed address Whych Cross Place, Forest Row, Sussex, and dated 23 February, 1925, 'Here is my heavy production... probably read the first chapter, be amused by the second and tolerate the third and fourth. There you had better stop... in fact most of the volume has been as much of a failure here... most of the {? in French) has been burnt at the publishers - the wretched Mumms!'

First edition, 8vo, inscribed presentation copy, publisher's burgundy cloth, gilt, light wear to joints, a very good copy.
