This copy is from the original edition of 200 signed copies; the publisher produced another 50 copies to accompany an exhibition of the work at Le Bal, Paris, later the same year. A New American Picture consists of Doug Rickard's photographs of a computer screen showing various economically ravaged locations in the United States covered by Google Street View. Like Walker Evans's American Photographs (1938), it is a book about America, the medium, and picturing America through photographs.
