The Novels of Jane Austen - the Series of English Idylls.
A beautifully illustrated edition based on water-colours by Charles E. Brock, scarce to find in a complete set with it's desirable deluxe binding.
First deluxe editions thus (published between 1907-1909); 6 volumes, 8vo (200 x 130mm); illustrated endpapers, each volume with 24 coloured plates by Charles E. Brock, identical contemporary gift inscriptions to ffeps, spotting at prelims, usual age-toning, pages are remarkably bright and pristine with exceptions of Sense and Sensibility and Persuasion which exhibit some spotting throughout; publisher's exuberantly blocked ivory vellum with gilt floral decoration, top edges gilt whilst others untrimmed, apart from minor soiling to boards, this set is notable for its remarkable condition, apart from minor fading to upper panel of Mansfield Park, the gilt decoration is richly preserved, very good indeed.
