She started across the Atlantic, visiting Brazil and Argentina before going through the straights of Magellan to Chile, then on to Tahiti and Hawaii across the Pacific, thence Japan and Canton, Singapore and Malaysia, and the stop of Ceylon before travelling to Aden and up the Suez back to the Mediterranean and home. Most of the account is made up of descriptions of Tahiti, Hawaii, and Japan, with her description of Hawaii pleased King Kalākaua so much he invested her with the Royal Order of Kapiolani.
