Wag-By-Wall.

one of 100 copies

This story was first conceived by Beatrix Potter in 1909 as 'The Little Black Kettle' and was intermittently revised. It was completed in the autumn of 1943, but Potter agreed with The Horn Book to hold it for their anniversary issue (Boston, May 1944), which unfortunately turned it into a posthumous publication, as she died three days before Christmas 1943.

The UK edition is limited to just 100 copies, of which this is number 24.

First UK edition, number 24 of 100 copies; 16mo; light foxing to endpapers, else unmarked internally; publisher's green cloth, gilt lettering to spine and upper cover, in the original dustjacket, light spotting to front panel and flaps, a couple of nicks to extremities, else very good.

Linder, p. 432.
