A 'superbly illustrated' scientific work, containing an account of the first Swiss expedition to the Kumaon Himalayas led by the authors. Though the object of the expedition was chiefly geological, the two men still managed to climb several high summits on the Nepal-Tibet border.

This copy was presented to Norman Dyhrenfurth, a swiss born mountaineer, who led the first American expedition to climb Everest in 1963.
