Issued to accompany a 1995 exhibition at Portikus, Frankfurt am Main, this publication is devoted to Andreas Gursky's monumental 1993 photograph of the Immeuble d'habitation Maine-Montparnasse II, a quarter-mile-long housing block in Montparnasse, Paris. This modernist landmark was designed by Jean Dubuisson in 1959 and completed in 1964.

First edition; 2 vols., 4to (240 x 265 mm, 9½ x 10½ in); colour photographs, essay by Hans Irrek, interviews by Irrek and Ursula Trübenbach, black-and-white illustrations in text; perfect-bound wrappers printed in silver and black, 'Paris, Montparnasse' lithograph (262 x 476 mm, 10¼ x 18 ¾ in) in the lightly rubbed original silver and black card folder, the print and books housed together in the publisher's silver and black card box, light wear and rubbing, fine in a very good box; 32; 40pp.
