This collection of Moore's poems was the first book to be illustrated by Freud. Published in the same year as Freud's first solo exhibition, the illustrations at hand include a number of motifs that Freud would revisit; an interesting record of his early work. Together with a 2pp. TLS, dated 1962, addressed to one 'Marion' and is full of reminiscences of mutual friends and family.

First edition, first impression; 8vo; 6 plates, including 2 in colour, small vignettes throughout, bookseller's ticket to front pastedown, contemporary ownership signature to front free endpaper; publisher's cloth-backed boards, gilt lettering to spine, design by Freud in yellow to upper cover, with the unclipped dust-jacket with some neat internal repairs.
