Gusha No Fune: The Ship of Fools is a re-edited version of a series of photographs published in the magazine Gekkan Shokun! between 1986 and 1988. These photographs were made in Tokyo at the end of the Showa era in response to the two-part question, 'Is Tokyo a paradise? Are those who live there happy?'
Of the eight books published in Suzuki's lifetime, this is the only one issued by a publishing house; the others were self-published.
