First edition, bound for Alexander II in red morocco and with the printed dedication, 'posviashchaetsia derzhavnomu shefu' [dedicated to the sovereign chief]. A history of this distinguished regiment founded in 1803, including lists of its officers.

Presentation copy bound specially for the Tsar, from a total edition of 600; 2 parts in one vol., 4to (27.5 x 21 cm); lithographed title page, dedication, 176pp., text within blue and gilt border, a.e.g.; contemporary red morocco binding with elaborate gilt Imperial military design to upper cover, lower cover bindstamped, doublures with beige silk guards and gilt ruled, spine in five parts with raised bands, title in gilt, remnants of shelf label to bottom of spine, some staining to binding, a very good example.
