Louis Tracy (1863-1928), author, by training a journalist. Creator of a string of works of a quintessentially Edwardian Mystery nature, but also creator of several novels with future war and psi power elements. Occasional collaborator, under the alias of Gordon Holmes, with the great M.P. Shiel, who (uncredited) assisted him with several detective novels.

First edition, first impression; 8vo; plates by Fred Pegram, title printed in red & black, ink name across title, endpapers slightly browned; publisher's black cloth upper board and spine ruled in blind, titles and decoration to upper board and spine gilt, lacking inset colour illustration, some minor marking.
